If you’re a breast cancer survivor and you live in Maine, Casting for Recovery is hoping to hook you on fly fishing: “The program allows women to get away from their cancer, while providing support from the medical/psychosocial professionals present at every retreat.” Here’s the lure: a free three-day program lead by Maine Guide Bonnie Holding at Libby Camps, an Orvis-endorsed lodge on Millinocket Lake north of Baxter State Park. The gentle motion of fly casting is especially therapeutic, Holding says.
