Lobster and diversity

Yeah, I know, what could these two topics possibly have in common? Both were front page stories in yesterday’s Portland Press Herald, and both are worth noting.

Portland’s West End Neighborhood Association is striving for the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest lobster roll. The group is hoping to serve a 60-foot-plus long sandwich comprising lobster and mayo at this year’s Old Port Festival. Now that’ll be something to muckle onto. For more, go here.

And on the Diversity front, columnist Justin Ellis writes about being a person of color in Maine (which vies with Vermont for the dubious distinction of being the whitest in the East, if not the nation). It’s a good read.
